This version of the Ernst Mach Grant is the one in the family aimed at bachelor's and master's students: OeAD opens it to students enrolled at universities in non-European countries. It funds a study stay of four to ten months rather than a full degree. A bachelor's student needs at least four completed semesters before applying.

Cycle 2026/27
The online form opens in October and closes on 1 February at 23:59 CET; the page gives 1 February 2026 as the cut-off for stays during the 2026/27 academic year.
Documents
- Valid biometric passport
- Transcript of records for the current or last semester; a master’s student also adds the bachelor’s certificate
- Letters of recommendation (no older than six months, on letterhead, signed and stamped)
- Acceptance letter confirming exchange student or free mover status
- Written confirmation from your home university that exams worth at least 16 ECTS will be recognised
- Translations of documents not in English or German
