The Irish government awards 60 scholarships a year to international students for one year of full-time study at NFQ levels 9 or 10: a master's, a postgraduate diploma or a PhD. The programme is funded by the Government of Ireland with the Irish higher education institutions and run by the Higher Education Authority. You must already hold a conditional or final offer from an eligible Irish institution when you apply.

Full: tuition and living costs

The award is a stipend of 10,000 euro for one year, and the host institution is required to give a full tuition fee waiver for that year.

Cycle 2026

The 2026 call is closed. The HEA page gives 12 March 2026 at 5pm Irish time as that round's deadline and early June 2026 for the outcome. A new call is published on the same page each year and applications are only accepted through the portal it links to.
