South Korea, bachelor’s

Korean universities expect 12 years of schooling, so an 11-year Uzbek attestat usually needs a language year or extra study first. Korean-taught programmes generally ask for TOPIK level 3; English-taught ones ask for IELTS or TOEFL. Every education document is apostilled and translated, and the visa asks for the bank statements the consulate names.

With an Uzbek attestat (11 years)

Language year

An 11-year attestat is short of the expected 12 years and Korean is needed anyway: the usual route is a year at a university language institute and TOPIK 3, then the bachelor programme.

Documents

  • School certificate

The school-leaving certificate, apostilled and translated into Korean or English.

  • Academic transcript

The full grade record behind the certificate.

  • Motivation letter

    Not checked yet

A study plan and a self-introduction letter are standard parts of a Korean undergraduate application.

  • Passport

The original passport, with the visa application form and a recent colour photograph.

  • Photograph

A recent colour photograph for the D-2 or D-4 visa application.

  • Financial statement

Korean missions ask for recent bank statements — the linked D-2/D-4 list is the Korean Embassy in Singapore's and asks for three months of them, waived for some IEQAS-accredited universities. Neither that list nor studyinkorea.go.kr publishes a minimum balance, and the Embassy in Tashkent has its own list, so ask the embassy what sum it wants to see before you move money.

  • Apostille

Korea is party to the Apostille Convention, so documents issued by schools and universities are apostilled; Uzbekistan issues the apostille through its own authorities.

  • Certified translation

Documents in another language must be notarised or apostilled together with a translation into English or Korean.

  • Letter of recommendationOptional

    Not checked yet

Many universities ask for one letter from a teacher or head of school; some do not.

  • English certificateOptional

    Not checked yet

Required for an English-taught programme; a Korean-taught one asks for the TOPIK report instead.

Tests

  • Any one of these is enough

    IELTS 5.5

Typical entry score for an English-taught bachelor. studyinkorea.go.kr says English-taught programmes require English proficiency but names no figure, so this is a common requirement and not an official minimum.

  • TOEFL iBT 80

Typical English-taught equivalent. Confirm with the university.

  • Teaching is in Korean: TOPIK (Korean) 3

TOPIK level 3 is the level most Korean-taught bachelor programmes ask for, and level 4 the one most ask for by graduation. studyinkorea.go.kr names no number: it says language requirements are set by each university or department and tells applicants to check with the institution. Treat 3 as a planning figure, not a rule.

Minimum grades and years of school

  • 12 years of school

Korean undergraduate admission is built on twelve years of primary and secondary schooling. Some universities accept an 11-year certificate plus a language year or a completed university year — ask the admissions office.

  • 3.5 on the Uzbek 5-point scale

An indicative attestat average; Korean universities publish their own cut-offs and often weight the interview heavily.

Other requirements

  • Certificate of Admission from the Korean university, stating aptitude and financial capacity

The visa is issued against the university’s admission certificate; you cannot apply before it exists.

  • Health check and health insurance as the university and immigration require

    Not checked yet

Enrolled international students are required to hold insurance; the exact form depends on the university and on the length of stay.

  • KIIP completion certificate or a King Sejong Institute certificate instead of TOPIK, where the university accepts itOptional

Depending on the university, a Korea Immigration & Integration Program certificate or a King Sejong Institute course certificate may be accepted in place of a TOPIK report.
