McGill awards merit-based entrance scholarships to first-time university students entering a full-time undergraduate degree. There are two kinds: a one-year award of 3,000 dollars and a Major Entrance Scholarship that can be renewed for up to four years. International students are considered for both, although the largest per-year tier is reserved for Canadians.

The one-year award is 3,000 Canadian dollars and is not renewable. A Major Entrance Scholarship is worth between 12,000 and 48,000 dollars in total — 3,000, 5,000, 10,000 or 12,000 a year, renewable for up to four years if the renewal conditions are met — and the 12,000 per year tier is open only to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Dates
There is no separate deadline: the scholarship is considered together with your programme application. Work to the admission deadline of the programme you choose.
The one-year award needs no application: everyone who applies for admission is considered. The Major Entrance Scholarship needs a separate application soon after the admission application, and McGill publishes those dates on its own deadlines page, which is where the current cycle has to be read.
