What documents and grades do you need to study in Canada?
A Canadian application has two stages: first the university or college for a letter of acceptance, then IRCC for the study permit. The permit needs the letter of acceptance, a provincial attestation letter (PAL or TAL), a passport and proof of funds — CAD 23,448 for living costs outside Quebec for applications from 1 September 2026. Universities usually ask for IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 86. Many accept an 11-year attestat; some ask for an extra year or a college pathway.

Master’s
A Canadian master takes a completed four-year bachelor degree; many programmes ask for a B+ average over the final two years. The documents are the diploma, transcript, a statement of purpose, two or three references, a CV and an English certificate, usually IELTS 6.5–7.0. Research-track programmes often need a supervisor agreed in advance. Then comes the IRCC study permit: letter of acceptance, PAL or TAL and proof of funds.
