The UBC International Scholars Program is for international students entering directly from secondary school who can show significant financial need. UBC reviews the family's gross income, expenses and assets and works out how much support the student needs in order to live and study at UBC. Applying here rules you out of UBC's merit-based awards: a candidate is considered for one programme or the other, not both.

What it covers
Full: tuition and living costs
The award is set by the assessed financial need: the amount required to live and study at UBC once the student's own resources are counted. No single figure is published because the calculation is made for each applicant.
Who can apply
- CitizenshipCitizens of any country
- Other conditionMust be an international student studying in Canada on a study permit, entering UBC directly from an accredited secondary school for a first undergraduate degree.
- Other conditionMust show significant financial need with official supporting documents, and demonstrate superior academic achievement.
- Other conditionNursing, Dental Hygiene, Medical Laboratory Science, the Bachelor plus Master of Management, dual and joint degrees are excluded.
- Other conditionA nominator from the school (counsellor, principal or similar) and a separate teacher referee must submit their forms before the award application can be completed.

The banner says applications for the September 2027 intake open in early October 2026, while the how-to-apply section says September 2026. The award application itself is due on 15 November and the documents needed for admission by 31 January. You apply for UBC admission first and complete the award application after that.
