Gates Cambridge offers around 70 full-cost scholarships a year to citizens of any country outside the United Kingdom for postgraduate study at Cambridge. About two-thirds go to PhD students and the rest to one-year postgraduate courses, so a master's applicant competes for the smaller share. Selection looks at academic ability, the reasons for the course chosen, a commitment to improving the lives of others and leadership potential.
