Japan's government scholarship for a first degree, aimed at school leavers. The page gives five years including a year of Japanese language training, or seven for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary science. The applicant must hold the nationality of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan and applies through the embassy in Tashkent.

What it covers
Full: tuition and living costs
Tuition is exempt, a return air ticket is provided, and the table gives a monthly stipend of 117,000 yen. Housing is not listed separately and comes out of the stipend.

Cycle 2027
Applications go to the Japanese embassy and the dates are announced afresh each year. Document collection usually starts in spring for study beginning the following April.
Documents
- FY2027 Application Form, with a photograph
- Academic transcripts for all school years
- Certificate of graduation, or of prospective graduation
- Recommendation letter from a class teacher or the principal
- Medical certificate on the FY2027 form
- Japanese or English language certificate, if you have one (if it applies)
- Japanese or English translation of documents in other languages
