What documents and grades do you need to study in Japan?
Japanese universities require twelve years of formal education, so an 11-year Uzbek attestat needs the MEXT preparatory course first. Japanese-taught programmes ask for JLPT N1 or N2 and at least 250 on the Japanese section of the EJU. English-taught ones typically ask for TOEFL iBT 71–80 or IELTS 5.5–6.0. Many universities run their own examination for international applicants or admit on EJU scores.
Foundation year
Japanese university entry requires at least twelve years of formal education. Where the home system is shorter — eleven years in Uzbekistan — you must complete a MEXT-designated university preparatory course. It covers Japanese and foundation subjects and is what makes you eligible to apply. The documents are the attestat, transcript, translations, passport and proof of funds.

Master’s
A Japanese master takes a completed bachelor degree — the twelve-year school rule does not apply here. Most programmes expect you to contact a prospective supervisor and secure their agreement first. Japanese-taught programmes ask for JLPT N1 or N2, English-taught ones for TOEFL or IELTS. The documents are the diploma, transcript, a research plan, references and a CV.
