What you need to apply

General country requirements

This entry is general Bachelor’s admission in Netherlands: the university is in the catalogue but its individual programme pages are not verified yet, so the country's general requirements are shown instead.

Check the university’s own page before you plan around it.

Netherlands, bachelor’s

A Dutch application usually starts in the national Studielink portal and continues in the institution’s own system. The Nuffic comparison shows how your diploma measures against Dutch VWO or HAVO; an 11-year attestat normally comes out below. English-taught programmes require IELTS, TOEFL or a Cambridge certificate. Fields such as medicine and psychology run a numerus fixus selection for a capped number of places.

With an Uzbek attestat (11 years)

Foundation year

An 11-year attestat falls below Dutch VWO: the usual answer is a foundation year or one completed year at an Uzbek university. Universities of applied sciences sometimes ask for less.

Tests

  • Any one of these is enough

    IELTS 6

To study on an English-taught programme you must have passed an English language test; IELTS 6.0 is the usual bachelor figure, with 6.5 at research universities. The institution sets the number.

  • TOEFL iBT 80

TOEFL is among the tests Dutch institutions generally accept as proof.

  • Cambridge English 169

Cambridge English B2 First, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency are generally accepted; 169 on the Cambridge scale is the usual B2 First pass.

  • Teaching is in DutchOptional

    Not compared by a person

Only for Dutch-taught programmes, which normally require NT2 Programme II. English-taught programmes need no Dutch.

Minimum grades and years of school

  • 12 years of school

Dutch research-university entry follows VWO. An 11-year attestat normally needs a foundation year, a completed year at an Uzbek university, or entry to a university of applied sciences instead.

  • 4 on the Uzbek 5-point scale

An indicative attestat average. Dutch institutions publish their own thresholds, and numerus fixus programmes rank applicants.
