What documents and grades do you need to enter a university in Uzbekistan?

Uzbek bachelor admission runs on entrance examinations set by the State Test Centre, with online registration at my.uzbmb.uz where you choose your region. The examinations are normally held across July and August, and scores are announced the day after the test. The core document is the 11-year attestat or a college or lyceum diploma. Holders of the national certificate may be exempt from individual subject tests — the State Test Centre publishes the current rules.

Bachelor’s

With an Uzbek attestat (11 years)

Straight into the first year

The Uzbek attestat gives direct entry: no bridging stage, only the State Test Centre entrance examination.

The school-leaving certificate, or the college or lyceum diploma, with its grade supplement.

  • Academic transcript

The grade supplement to the certificate.

  • Passport

The passport or, for citizens, the biometric ID; foreign applicants also need the study visa and registration at their place of stay.

  • Photograph

Passport photographs for the test-centre registration file and the university file.

  • Certified translationOptional

Applicants with a foreign certificate submit a notarised translation into Uzbek or Russian. Holders of an Uzbek attestat need none.

Tests

  • Any one of these is enough

    IELTS 5.5Optional

Only for English-medium programmes and the foreign branch campuses in Tashkent. Typical score, not a national figure.

  • Teaching is in UzbekOptional

Most programmes teach in Uzbek; Russian-medium and English-medium groups exist at many universities and at the foreign branch campuses.

Minimum grades and years of school

  • 11 years of school

The Uzbek attestat after eleven years of school, or a college or academic lyceum diploma, is what bachelor admission is built on.

  • 3.5 on the Uzbek 5-point scale

An indicative attestat average. Admission is decided on the test score against the year’s quota rather than on the school average, so this is context, not a threshold.

Master’s

An Uzbek master takes a completed bachelor degree, with admission decided by a subject examination the university itself sets. The documents are the diploma and its supplement, a passport, a medical certificate and, at many universities, a CV and list of publications. Foreign applicants submit a notarised translation of the diploma and go through recognition. Each university publishes its own deadlines and examination subjects.
